2021 OLAC Outstanding District Award: Nominations Due October 15

The OLAC Outstanding District Award is presented annually to a district in Ohio that demonstrates effective leadership practices. These practices, inherent in the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP), include shared leadership, the use of a collaborative-inquiry process that uses data in decision making, and a focus on success for all learners within the school system. If you know an Ohio school district doing great work with OLAC and OIP tools, consider nominating them for the 2021 OLAC Outstanding District Award. Nominations are due October 15. NEW OLAC Resource: System Improvement Practices Review (SIPR)

Learn more about OLAC’s newest assessment, the Systemic Improvement Practices Review (SIPR)—a survey used with district-level team members to receive feedback on district practices in four key areas, including: promoting system-wide learning, prioritizing teaching and learning, building capacity through support and accountability, and sustaining an open and collaborative culture. Explore the SIPR.

New OLAC Module: Leadership for Early Childhood Care and Education

This module bridges this division in its treatment of early care and education leadership. In particular, it takes the view that elementary principals—who in Ohio need to have no experience or training in ECE or childcare—have something to learn from those outside the school system who care for children from birth to age 3 or 4. And, it also recognizes that school principals can help promote the position that society needs to direct much more attention and resources to the care of young children and their families. Explore the module.
