House Bills 176, 181 seek complete education overhaul

Two bills in the state House propose bad policy in a variety of areas including standards and assessments. OFT opposes House Bills 181 and 176. While there might be some parts of these bills that are appealing, overall they are bad. These are complete overhauls of our education system that would require teachers and students - once again - to adapt to new standards and new assessments. Instead of a complete overhaul, we are working on other avenues to fix the problems that have been identified by our members in the current education system such as the high stakes testing attached to evaluations.
