OFT teachers at Van Wert Middle School and Port Clinton Middle Schools helped earn those schools honors as Ohio Schools to Watch.
A perennial honoree for its quality program, Van Wert Middle School was designated as an Ohio School to Watch again this year. The school has earned the state and national designation as a School to Watch since 2006. Teachers are committed to providing the best environment for the success of middle level students through collaboration and staying true to middle grades principles. By doing so they demonstrate that it is possible to establish and sustain a supportive environment for students to grow and learn.
Port Clinton Middle School is a newly designated Ohio School to Watch that also has earned the national recognition. The school utilizes many positive practices that support students. Ohio Schools to Watch officials visited the school Dec. 16 to observe the school in action.
OFT is proud of our members who play important roles in these schools earning this recognition of strong teaching and learning practices.
OFT has been a founding partner in the Ohio Schools to Watch program since 2004. Ohio Schools to Watch joins OFT with the Ohio Middle Level Educators, Otterbein College and Ohio Department of Education to support and recognize high quality middle level schools. A school recognized in Ohio also earns the national designation as an exemplary middle school nationwide.
