Summit Academy Parma Teachers to Begin Strike

Strike is a response to Unfair Labor Practices and for improved learning conditions for students.

Parma, OH — Teachers at Summit Academy Parma will begin their strike on Tuesday, February 19 at 7:30 a.m., and will continue their picket through 4:00 p.m. The teachers are striking over an Unfair Labor Practice charge against Summit Academy Management alleging a failure to negotiate in good faith. The recent filing is in addition to Unfair Labor Practice charges previously brought against the management company by the Union.

The teachers are seeking to win a contract that ensures smaller class sizes, improved staffing, and stronger health and safety conditions for their students.

Daily pickets outside the school will continue until the teacher-led bargaining committee reaches an agreement with Summit Academy Management. Additionally, there will be other actions later this week to support the strike at various strategic locations.
